The events that saved us from Depression (Recap Video)

Updated: Jan 19

Just when there was no sign of events coming back, there was an announcement from events company JBM Music stating that they will be hosting a series of social distancing events in Manchester! The first event was on the 25th of July 2020, no one knew what it was going to be like but it sold out anyway, everyone loved it!

From there on, every event was a sell out! Social Avenue teamed up with a tonne of Brands such as Mason Collective, Kaluki, Moxy Muzik, Haus22, Origin Records, Retro and more!

After the first handful of events, Social Avenue started hosting every weekend, and then even 2 to 3 events a weekend! Life was good, it felt like things were getting back to normal.

Events were getting bigger and better every weekend, they were going so well that JBM decided to bring in the big boys! Solardo, Judge Jules & Patrick Topping were all lined up ready to go for the October cards, but then s*** got bad and the JBM lads were told to stop due to local restrictions and the 2nd national lockdown, even though there hasn't been a single report of a covid outbreak at the SA events.

Our hearts were shattered, guts kicked, dreams belted across the room! No more Social Avenue till further notice, multiple events were cancelled and the lads behind the brand lost more money again. If you don't know, the lads behind Social Avenue (JBM Music) also run multiple brands such as 90s Baby, Acropolis, MCR Open Air, Southern Sunset, MCR/Hasting/Milton Keynes Reggae Festival & Manctober Fest, as well as working with the likes of Do Not Sleep, Cafe Mambo, Retro and many more. They had loads of events planned for 2020 and 2021 before covid hit, so more money was lost there also. The above was also mentioned on one of our Podcasts, check it out if you havent already watched it:

We caught up with the lads about the future plans for Social Avenue and it’s returning better than ever, as soon as restrictions are lifted and they are allowed to do so.

Ok! Let's take a trip down memory lane and see what saved us from depression.
